Chuck Klolosterman, a former president of the American Association of University Professors and president of Harvard University, has been nominated to become the new chairman of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine, The Hill reported Thursday.
Klosterman is the second nominee from the science community this year.
New York Times columnist and Harvard professor David Aaronovitch announced Thursday that he would be the next chairman of NSERC.
The Senate confirmed Aaronovitts nomination last month, and President Trump is expected to nominate him to the position as well.
He’s a member of the Harvard faculty, and his current position is at the Harvard-MIT Center for Advanced Study in Science Education, where he served as director of the center from 2011 to 2016.
The center was recently renamed to the Harvard Engineering Center for the Advancement of Science Education.
